Econet Group encourages collaboration between students and companies, because both student and the company benefit from the thesis or master’s thesis. Thesis of Pekka Lähdekorpi handled the efficiency of the DEWA VDP Combo belt filter press with industrial sludge and municipal sludge. The work was implemented at JVP-Eura, which is the municipal wastewater treatment plant in Eura.
Thesis of Pekka Lähdekorpi included planning of the project, testing in collaboration with Econet Group, and writing the thesis.
-In practice, the work was implemented by taking the belt filter press to JVP-Eura wastewater treatment plant. At JVP-Eura we built the needed piping and connections together with company representative and production manager Riku Kettunen. At that stage, some delays came up to the project. However, during the delays I got to work for JVP-Eura as a process operator. This period was very beneficial. I got a lot of valuable experience from project work in business world and Econet Group got needed data from the efficiency of the belt filter press. I am happy that I was chosen to do the thesis, tells Pekka Lähdekorpi.
Thesis has convinced the company representative, too.
-Testing the new machine is always beneficial for the customers, and for the manufacturer. We got the chance to research the machine in practice in its natural environment, and all the more, with two different kinds of sludge. We strengthened information about the capacity and functioning of the DEWA VDP Combo belt filter press, and found improvements. As follows, it is easier to service our customers in the future, says the company representative Riku Kettunen.
-Thesis and master’s thesis workers are the most welcome, as long as suitable topic is found, which can be implemented together, adds Kettunen.
The thesis can be read here.
