Cleantech company cut its production time by a third

Janne Hiironen

Slamex, which is part of Econet Group, sped up the production times of its two products by a third. Lahti-based fabrication workshop achieved the result thanks to new lean production system and collaboration with Kemppi Oy.

- The results of the new production system and collaboration have been excellent. We begun the renewal of the production in the beginning of the year, and it has been great to see the development, tells the plant director of Slamex Janne Hiironen.

Slamex develops its welding processes together with Kemppi. In addition to the faster production time, the quality of products and welding has increased.

- We have continuously two to three development projects with Kemppi in order to develop different welding processes. We tell in advance what kinds of projects are coming and think together with Kemppi about the solutions, tells Hiironen.

The core idea of lean production is to maximize the value of the product or service to the customer by removing all the needless parts in the whole process chain.

- The future goal is to continue on this track and next we will start creating our own product series. We aim to serve customer better with faster production times and quality products, tells Hiironen.

The collaboration has been significant to Kemppi, too.

- Collaboration with the end users is significant, since we get firsthand knowledge, which we cannot get elsewhere. Every collaboration is unique, and thanks to the feedback we can develop our own products and services. It is important for us to develop and offer solutions, which increase the productivity, tells the director of project sales, domestic, and OEM of Kemppi Mikko Väisänen.
